Note that a new validation system can be activated from the results pages which usually enables your application to be validated from your postcode, without the need for the meter reference numbers. This is not always the case so it can help if you have these numbers handy.

If you do not have a previous bill, you can obtain your MPR number by telephoning XOSERVE (previously provided by Transco) on 0870 608 1524

ELECTRICITY Supply Number (MPAN)

MPAN stands for Metering Point Administration Number. It provides a unique identity reference number for your electricity meter which provides certain information as shown in the example below:

The number is contained inside a series of 7 small boxes with a capital S in front. It may be located in the bottom left corner or sometimes top right, somewhere on your last electricity bill. It’s sometimes quite small print and difficult to find, but when you see a set of numbers in some boxes, with a capital S in front, then you have found it.

Example:

mpan-number

There are similar boxes on the application forms where the above numbers can be entered.

For billing and Half Hourly data typically only the last 13 digits of this number are used.

Note that a new validation system can be activated from the results pages which usually enables your application to be validated from your postcode, without the need for the meter reference numbers. This is not always the case so it can help if you have these numbers handy.

If you do not have a previous bill, you can obtain your MPAN by telephoning your local distribution electricity supplier whose telephone number will be in the local telephone directory.

If you still do not know who your local electricity supplier is, you can call Consumer Direct on 08454 04 05 06 and ask who your local supplier is. They will ask for your address and postcode.
