    Simon Phillips says:

Efficiency in the domestic market is perhaps an easier concept to apply. You save money by (a) turning the thermostat down or switching the lights off, or (b) you change supplier to get a cheaper unit cost. In the business world the factors determining energy consumption can be more complex. A business can have many work-flow processes with demands that place a greater emphasis on time and resource availability rather than the energy consumed. Energy conservation and efficiency has often slipped into a lower priority activity. As energy costs continue to rise, the need to raise the profile of conservation and efficiency will mean a greater need for monitoring what you are using and modelling what a change of work flow may yield in efficiency.
